Workbook 3 -- Developing A Personal Mission Statement
This
Workbook examines the value of a personal mission statement in
helping individuals live with passion and purpose. Individuals
are given a set of tools to help them explore and define their
deeply held values and beliefs and create a mission statement
which reflects those values and beliefs.
Excerpt
"Many individuals drift aimlessly through life without any
sense of where they want to go; what they want to do or become
and why. I've done seminars all over the world and have met many
people who are unhappy with their jobs or their positions in life.
Oftentimes they are bitter and angry and see themselves as victims
of circumstance.
One
of the questions which I always ask is, "How many people
in the room have a written mission statement that they consult
on a regular basis?" Invariably only about 5-10 out of every
100, or about 5% to 10% of individuals in the room, say they have
a mission statement.
Ironically,
all of them say yes to the question whether their companies or
departments have mission statements. They also know the purpose
and importance of mission statements, yet they never see the importance
of one in helping them determine the direction of their lives."
